Preparing Your Boat For Transportation
DETACH ALL ITEMS:
All removable gear should be taken from your boat. This includes all
Masts, Standing Rigging, Canvas, Anchors, Antennae, All Loose Items
/ Accessories, Bow Pulpits etc. Downeast Boat Haulers Inc.
CANNOT be responsible for the damage of any gear that is not
properly secured. This includes all items mentioned, boat covers,
biminis. Any other items such as Electronics or other fixed
accessories can be left on board, it is strongly recommended however
that all such items be secured and locked in a cabinet or locked
cabin.
The Legal Height (Maximum) for over the road transport is 13' 6".
Tenders (Well Secured in Hull) May be Shipped as well.
MECHANICAL SYSTEMS:
Please remember to drain all Water Filled Systems. Drain all
Bilge areas and all Water Tanks. This is especially Important if the
boat is moving to or from a Winter (Cold) Climate. All batteries and
Electrical systems MUST be disconnected, and all Centerboards on any
Sailboats MUST be secured.
HULL PREPARATION:
Shrink wrap may be used for shipping / hauling - Downeast Boat
Haulers Inc. is not responsible for repairs the cover may need
in Transport. Other covers can be used, but damage (tearing) or
destroyed covers are most likely to be the result and this is at
owners discretion, Downeast Boat Haulers Inc. are NOT
responsible.
Remember that all movable Windows, Portholes and any hatches must be
secured so wind will not force open causing damage to your boat.
Wrap all Sailboat masts with padded covering, this will prevent hull
from damage from Vibration during transport.
